Australian National Championships 2010

The Sunshine Coast, QLD will be hosting the 2010 Australian National Pipe Band Championships on Easter weekend.

Graded into grades four, three, two and one with a special grade for juvenile pipers and drummers, bands are challenged to perform specific genres of music. Juvenile and grade four bands play a traditional march selection plus an own-choice musical selection, whilst grades three, two and one play a march, strathspey and reel and an own-choice musical selection.

Bands from  Australia and New Zealand will battle it out to gain the top prize, Australian National Champion.  The Pipe Band Club of Sydney are current Grade 1 champions and will compete against City of Blacktown Pipe Band, Queensland Police Pipe Band and the Australian Highlanders Pipe Band.

BEAT IT! – A drumming event will be held on Friday April 2nd at the Panthers AFL club.  Laughlin’s Pipes N Drumz is proud to support the event, donating Scottish drumming books, pads, drum sticks, Bass and Tenor Products and other cool prizes!
